Poetry & Pizza is a first-Friday-of-the-month charity reading series.

Fill up with hot-out-of-the-oven gourmet pizzas (from pesto to =

pepperoni, teriyaki chicken to italian meatball); all you can eat. =

Belly sated, it's time to feed that soul hunger with good poems.

francEyE and Steve Arntson read to benefit The Women's Building.

francEyE was born in San Rafael in 1922, but as soon as she was born =

her parents took her to Massachusetts. She had some early =

publications on the east coast but did not seriously pursue poetry =

until she ended up in southern California in 1963. Her book =

Snaggletooth in Ocean Park (1996) was published by Sacred Beverage =

Press and Amber Spider (2004) is available from Pearl Editions. =

francEyE has read all over Southern California and reads frequently =

in the bay area where she comes to visit her daughter and grandson.

Steve Arntson has been writing poems coming on 30 years and =

performing them nearly that long. He read in The Old Spaghetti =

Factory and Caf=E9 Babar series and counts among his influences Eli =

Coppola, David Lerner, Mel C. Thompson, Kathleen Dunbar and Jack =

Mueller. As a musician Arntson learned to memorize long pieces and so =

he does this with his poems. Having found artistic community and "the =

richness of the solitude possible" at the annual Burning Man Festival =

Arntson will be sharing several works written there.

The Women's Building is a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural, multi-service =

center for women and girls.
