The Greater Circulation, a film about the poet Rilke by Antero Alli

Fri, May 26
8:00pm - 10:00pm

$6.

This cinematic treatment of Rainer Maria Rilke's "Requiem For a
Friend" follows the poet over two fevered nights at the Hotel Biron
in Paris, 1908. A hundred years later an experimental theatre group
in Berkeley California prepares to stage his "Requiem" as an avante
garde performance ritual. When impressions of the contemporary era
mysteriously appear in Rilke's night dreams, they inspire the writing
of his "Requiem" as a tribute to artist Paula Modersohn-Becker, who
unexpectedly died eighteen days after birthing her first child. An
all-SF area cast and crew are joined by the local musical talents of
Loop!Station and Amber Asylum in this cinematic treatment of Rilke's
powerful prose addressing the central drama of all women who feel
torn between sacrificing their lives to their Art or to Motherhood.
