Breakers to Bay Salmon Run Costume Building Parties

Costume materials are $25-30 or bit less if you bring stuff

Run upstream at Bay to Breakers (yes that is the "wrong" way) dressed
as a 7 ft tall salmon with us. We usually get high fived by thousands
and treated like a rock star by most of the 80,000 other costumed
whackos at bay to breakers. Other advantages of this insanity:
Running against the stream is the best view of Bay to Breakers. You
get to see all the other costumes as they run past. You get to fend
off sharks, Orcas and Elvises. The Bands at the side of the race
sometimes stop what they are doing and play theme music for us.

But seriously you want to do this... Here is why: You should come
because we usually get amazing, overwhelming, serious rock star style
acknowledgement just for being different, just for doing it "wrong".
This comes not just from anybody but from 80,000 other creative
mavericks who mostly love the different and weird who want to cheer
themselves and us (as symbols of the path less traveled) for sticking
to it and having guts to really do something not completely
mainstream... In short for us gutsy weirdoes it feels Really good.
And we could save thousands in therapy for learning how to gracefully
take in acknowledgement. Also you could honestly tell your mom you
went back to school.

Cost:
At our costume party the materials will cost 25-30 roughly and a few
hours of your time. You are only paying for materials. No one is
making a dime off of this. We'll have a big production line going so
the time cost 3-4 hours of work on costumes and one really early
morning for the actual run... it is a light easy jog actually.

Other related events:
There is usually a pre run party that has Drinks and bagels before
the race at 7 am. For morning haters you can party with us the night
before and sleep over. Come to a build party for directions to the
pre run party. There is a post run party open to more folks called
fish stock. There will be more info on these at the build party.

This is in Potrero Hill at 555 De Haro St. suite 120 San Francisco CA
between 18th and mariposa.

By east bay BART/Bus:
Take bart to the SF civic center. Then catch the 19 NAVY YARD bus on
8th st near market. Go less than a mile south get off at Mariposa
and Rhode Island st. Go left 1 block left on mariposa. Then turn
right at de haro. Go up 1/2 block to 555. It is the big pioneer
square building with the caboose in the parking lot on your left.

Other City-zens take the 19 to Mariposa and Arkansaw or Mariposa and
De Haro. and follow the last part of above. Or take the 22 to 16th
and De Haro walk up the hill 1.5 blocks to poineer square on the left.

By Car:

From east bay:
Take the bay bridge to SF. Right after the bridge take the 5th st
exit (Just stay to the left lanes coming off the bridge.) Turn left
on 5th; turn left where 5th ends onto townsend. Take the 1st Left at
7th; then the 2nd right at Berry. Take the 1st left onto De Haro. Go
4.5 blocks; 555 is on your left after Anchorsteam Brewery. Park on
the street.

From south
Take 101 north to the SF Vermont st exit. Don't turn onto Vermont
keep going the way the exit starts you going onto mariposa. Take the
3rd right at De Haro. 555 is 1/2 block up on left it is the big
poineer square building after the Anchorsteam Brewery. Park on the
street.

From north bay:
Take 101 south to the golden gate bridge. Follow 101 onto Lombard st.
After filmore go 5 blocks and turn right on Gough. Go a little over a
mile, pass turk, go left at fell. Go 3 blocks then take a gentle
right-ish at market onto 10th. Go roughly 6 major lights down then
take a gentle right onto potrero at the overpass. Go 3 blocks; take a
left at 17th. Go 6 blocks; then right onto De Haro . Go 1 1/2 blocks
up 555 is the big poineer square building after the Anchorsteam
Brewery on the left. Park on the street.

To find our door once at the 555 poineer square building:
Go to the very back of the parking lot away from the caboose. There
is a little door on the ground floor near the ivy with a fish on it.
Knock loudly or come on in.
