This two-part program presents internationally renowned VJ group
Addictive TV's most current projects. First up is Optronica, a "best
of" compilation of short works from the 2005 event of the same name.
The Optronica Festival focused on the convergence of film and music
and featured a powerhouse lineup of the very best contemporary and
international visual music works. Addictive TV, established as
trailblazers in the burgeoning video-mixing arena, was the primary
organizer and curator of the event. Following Optronica, Addictive TV
will give a live performance of The Eye of the Pilot, a mashup of
vibrant 8mm color film from the early 1950s with art deco-inspired
graphics and a combination of live and recorded music. The film
footage was shot by French commercial airline pilot Raymond Lamy and
includes portraits of Vietnam, Ivory Coast, Pakistan and the U.S. at
a transitional moment in France's relation to these countries. The
Eye of the Pilot premiered at the Pompidou Centre in Paris and
skillfully uses Lamy's tourist-like footage to create a travelogue
while documenting an era of dwindling colonial power. This is a rare
opportunity to see a live cinema performance by this leading VJ
outfit outside of the club arena.


On Wednesday, May 3 Addictive TV will headline a party to end the
KinoTek series: Addictive TV Eats San Francisco will take place at
Mighty (119 Utah) at 9:00 pm. VJon/Lightrythm Visuals will open the
show followed by Toronto imports Rawkshow. Addictive will then
proceed to destroy Mighty, and then the city, leaving mayhem and
chaos in their wake.
