Artist Mark Bradford Gives Public Lecture

Los Angeles-based artist Mark Bradford creates artwork that mixes
references to urban pop culture-from street detritus to the remnants
of African American hair treatments-with formal concerns of
contemporary art. His seemingly abstract mixed-media works are rooted
in real world sources. Bradford's work has been featured in solo
exhibitions at the Whitney Museum of American Art, Altria, New York;
the Luggage Store, San Francisco; and in group exhibitions at the
Studio Museum in Harlem, New York; Real Art Ways, Hartford,
Connecticut; and the UCLA Hammer Museum, Los Angeles. He earned both
a BFA and MFA from the California Institute of the Arts. He's
included in the 2006 Whitney Biennial.
