Please join Break the Silence for a multi-media presentation of
recent projects in the Gaza and the West Bank, Palestine.
Rachel Corrie Center for Children and Youth Mural
In 2003, Rachel Corrie, a volunteer with the International Solidarity
Movement was run over by an Israeli driven bulldozer while she tried to
protect the home of a Palestinian doctor from being demolished.
Working with the Rachel Corrie Foundation and the Gaza community, BTS
painted two collaborative murals in Rafah and is planning a sister-
city mural in Olympia, Washington, where Rachel was from.
Aamer Family Mural
The Aamer's live on the edge of the once prosperous village of Mas'ha
in the West Bank of Palestine, where the Israeli built Occupation or
Apartheid Wall surrounds their house on 4 sides. Working with the
Aamer family, Jewish Israeli and International activists, BTS has
returned to the Aamer home two years in a row to paint a mural on the
wall facing their front door.
A Profile of Israeli Jews of Arab Descent or Mizrahim
The majority of Jews in Israel are of non-European descent, and face
racist
oppression and discrimination. BTS will give an introduction to some
Mizrahi activists for social justice and their history.
After the presentation, there will be an extended Q & A over
refreshments and regional music.
