The Peking Acrobats (from Beijing)
Dimension Performing Arts, Inc. is proud to present the exemplary
Peking Acrobats from Beijing in two performances only in San Jose.
The Peking Acrobats will introduce audiences to the tradition of
Chinese acrobatics through the beauty, strength, and agility of one
of China's premier troupes. Since their debut in 1986, The Peking
Acrobats have redefined audience perceptions of Chinese acrobatics.
They perform daring maneuvers atop a precarious pagoda of chairs;
they are experts at treacherous wire-walking, trick-cycling,
precision tumbling, somersaulting, and gymnastics. The Peking
Acrobats are masters of agility and grace. Highlighted with high-
tech special effects, the performance is often accompanied by live
musicians skillfully playing traditional Chinese instruments. The
combination of music and awe-inspiring feats create an exuberant
entertainment spectacle that brings the excitement and festive
pageantry of a Chinese Carnival to life!
The Peking Acrobats are an outgrowth of the Great China Circus,
popular during the 1920s, and became an integrated professional
acrobatic company in 1958. The Peking Acrobats have traveled the
world, sharing their special brand of enchantment with a global
audience. They have played to sold-out houses, earned rave reviews,
and have appeared on many television specials. They were even
featured in the hit film Ocean's Eleven, directed by Steven
Soderbergh, and in the sequel Ocean's Twelve. It is with much pride
and pleasure that The Peking Acrobats embark on their twentieth North
American tour, and come to the South Bay courtesy of Dimension
Performing Arts, Inc.
