Direct Effect is a fundraiser organized to support the permaculture
efforts of the Wilder Foundation, working with single mothers and
their children on Ometepe Island in Nicaragua. All proceeds go
directly toward training and education of sustainable practices to
empower these families to sustain themselves, as well we become
future permaculture educators in their own and neighboring
communities. Projects in progress include constructing nurseries,
fuel efficient stoves, and slow sand water filters, as well as
providing training in seed collection and cultivation, composting,
use of medicinal plants, and women's health. http://
