Thu, Mar 23
7 to 9 pm
$8 General, $4 Students & Seniors
Please join us for a special benefit screening of
VOICES OF DISSENT: ACTIVISM & AMERICAN DEMOCRACY
This award-winning film features many of your favorite progressive
activists: Martin Sheen, Woody Harrelson, Michael Franti, Al Franken,
Medea Benjamin, Daniel Ellsberg, Will Durst, Jim Hightower, Norman
Solomon, Joan Blades, Congresswoman Barbara Lee, and many more.
After the screening, join a discussion with filmmaker Karil Daniels,
to talk about tactics to oppose Bush and protect authentic democracy.
Get energized, get motivated, get involved and take back America!
Using events, theatre, song, dance, comedy, satire, music, poetry,
interviews with many well-known personalities and the wisdom of our
country's founders, VOICES reminds us of our roots and the
importance of protecting authentic democracy and standing up for
freedom. It challenges anyone who would limit the freedoms and civil
liberties granted in the Constitution and Bill of Rights as
fundamentally un-American, even if they are our own leaders. It
inspires viewers to speak out, vote and actively protect our heritage
of democracy, before we lose it.
VOICES OF DISSENT, a 42 minute documentary, has been honored at 8
film festivals. Now we want to expand it to full feature length for
national theatrical distribution. Proceeds from this screening will
go to support that expansion.
Admission: $8 General/$4 Students & Seniors
"To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or
that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only
unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American
public." -- Teddy Roosevelt
This event is co-sponsored by New College Center for Education and
