Kurt Weitzmann presents Comedy Noir

Wed, Apr 5
8PM

$5.00

Comedy Noir is a monthly comedy event showcasing the best of the ever-
evolving San Francisco comedy scene. Comedy Noir is built on the
principle that the best comedy, like the best of San Francisco
itself, is dark, irreverent, and unique. A good comic mind is one
that subverts conventions and twists reality. This is not an evening
at The Improv.

The Producer
Comedy Noir is produced by San Francisco underground comedy veteran
Kurt Weitzmann, who has been performing San Francisco comedy for over
fifteen years. His act has been seen on Comedy Central, MTV, and on
the stages of every San Francisco comedy club ever to come or go.
Kurt Weitzmann began doing stand up in the late 80's at the infamous
Holy City Zoo, where such acts as Robin Williams, Dana Carvey, Rob
Schneider, and Margaret Cho all honed their craft. In between Stand
Up performances Kurt founded numerous Bay Area sketch groups,
including Nervous laughter which was touted as "Funnier than any
given season of Saturday Night Live in the last ten years" by BAM
Magazine. Kurt also created, edited, and produced the ingenious SF
Weakly, a highly celebrated parody of the SF Weekly, for which he was
labeled a "Comic genius" by non other than The SF Weekly. In the year
2000, Kurt moved to Los Angeles and began writing, producing, and
performing comedy shows at The HBO Workspace and The Comedy Central
Stage and creating sketches and comedy shows at The FAKE Gallery
("Best place to see comedy in LA"- LA Magazine).
While in Los Angeles Kurt worked with such comedy luminaries as Dave
Thomas (SCTV), Patton Oswalt (King of Queens), Dana Gould (The
Simpsons), Kate Flannery (The Office), Tom Kenny (Sponge Bob Square
Pants) to name but a few. Kurt Weitzmann's comedy sketch album
Talented is now available on American Dreams Records. Kurt has
recently moved back to San Francisco in order to once again enjoy the
Bay Area audiences that spoiled him and return to his first love:
Stand Up Comedy.

The Show:
April 5th
Mike Spiegelman- The night will be hosted by "Laundry Basket &
Spiegelman", a comedy Duo consisting of veteran San Francisco comic
Mike Spiegelman and a laundry basket. Their interpretation of "Who's
On First" is not to be missed.
Ali Wong- Just a joy to watch. "Wong's unique brand of side-splitting
raunchiness leaves the seats wet." -Asian Weekly. ?
John Hoogasian- What more can we say but: "Northern California's best-
kept comedy secret weapon" -The LA Weekly
?Brent Weinbach- Considered a San Francisco comedy institution. And
quite aptly:
"A hybrid of Franz Kafka and Ad-Rock" -The Bay Guardian?

Johnny Steele- Veteran host of the Live 105 Morning Radio Show and
KRON/Bay TV THE SHOW. Seeing Johnny Steele live is simply a glimpse
at the funniest social commentary in stand up today.

Uncle Howard- Comedian Howard Stone presents Uncle Howard: a retired
Kiddy Show host and recent divorcee returning to the stage after a
"long rest" with newly acquired wisdom and inspirational songs.

THE HEADLINER
?Hail The Size
Featuring: Charles Ezell & Matt North.
Comedy Noir is proud to present Hail The Size, a roots rock musical
trio consisting of San Francisco ex-patriot comedians Charles Ezell
and Matt North, and bassist Clint Davidson.
CHARLES EZELL - voice, guitar.
Not only is Charles Ezell one of the funniest men presently
performing in LA, he is an amazingly talented songwriter who takes
not taking himself seriously very seriously. Songs like "Mean Means I
love" you and "I Can't Die in LA" are nothing short of a stiff drink
with a beer back, followed by a good joke you'll be too drunk to
remember in the morning.
MATT NORTH -Percussion.
Matt North appeared as a recurring guest star on HBO's Curb Your
Enthusiasm and starred opposite James Woods in the Golden Globe
winning movie, Dirty Pictures. As a drummer, he performs and records
regularly with Lyle Lovett's Viktor Krauss, Jesse DeNatale, Paula
Kelley, Mink Stole, and Nicholas Tremulis.
CLINT DAVIDSON -Bass guitar
LA bassist and native West Virginian, Clint Davidson records and
performs regularly with Ben Ruby, Ping, & Bellylove.
