Art is an inspiration for, instrument of, and recorder of social change.
In that spirit, on Saturday April 8, 2006, the San Francisco Peoples'
Organization+ will host its very first annual art auction fundraiser
at 111 Minna Street.
The event will feature a silent and a live auction, led by guest
auctioneer Matt Gonzalez, as well as a reading by San Francisco Poet
Laureate Jack Hirschman, live music, and a DJ-ed after-party. Marcus
Darkraven will present a screening of his film, "For Real Bayview,"
currently in production.
+San Francisco Peoples' Organization (SFPO) was formed in June of
2005 to bring together San Francisco's diverse communities,
individuals, organizations, unions, and elected officials to work
together in turning their progressive values into positive social
change in the city.
*The event features work from several major San Francisco artists,
including "Downtown Afternoon" by DWalker, and is curated by Bruno
Mauro, Siri Margerin, and Catherine Rauschuber.
