New Delhi Media Practitioners RAQS Give Public Presentation

Each year through our four Centers for Interdisciplinary Study, SFAI
invites innovative artists and/or scholars to work in residence for a
minimum of five weeks. RAQS Media Collective from New Delhi is the
Spring 2006 artist group in residence for SFAI's Center for Media
Culture. RAQS is a collective of media practitioners that works in
new media and digital art practice, documentary filmmaking,
photography, media theory and research, writing, criticism, and
curating. RAQS consists of three artists, Monica Narula, Jeebesh
Bagchi, Shuddhabrata Sengupta, based in Delhi, India, and is the co-
initiator of Sarai: The New Media Initiative, a program of
interdisciplinary research and practice on media, city space, and
urban culture at the Centre for the Study of Developing Societies,
Delhi. This introductory public presentation will introduce the ideas
behind RAQS work, their completed/in-progress projects, and the
importance of technology for communication.
