Aftermodern presents new work by Los Angeles-based painter Aaron
White. Beginning with the Artist's Opening Reception on Saturday,
March 18, 2006 from 5-8 pm, the exhibition runs from March 18 - April
29, 2006.

Aaron White-Painter, designer, and auteur, White creates work steeped
in the traditions of the non-traditional. Urban archetypal characters
rendered in a familiar cartoonish hand act as signposts and fellow
travelers amidst chaotic landscapes of collaged media, patterns, and
text. The context of these works refers not to the gallery or the
museum, but to alleyways and ad pages. Reflective of the bohemian
upbringing that White received through his father, Abstract
Expressionist Saul White, the large-scale canvases (usually 4' x 8')
are culled from images that speak of hazy California summers,
thuggery, detachment, love, and lost innocence-and the complicated
nature of contemporary adolescence.

Aaron White was born in Southern California, where he currently
resides after having grown up in New York. He studied at Otis Parsons
in Los Angeles and has exhibited extensively, including shows at Don
O'Melveny Gallery in Beverly Hills, 222 Gallery in Los Angeles, The
Lace Gallery and the Angles Gate Museum. His work has also been
featured in the LA Times, Thrasher, Surfer and Rolling Stone
magazines. He has done advertising campaigns for the likes of
Converse Sneakers, Hurley Clothing, Fox Sports Broadcasting,
Nickelodeon television and MTV.
