Jessamyn Lovell -Catastrophe, Crisis, and Other Family Traditions:
Fri, Mar 10
In Color 2 is pleased to announce the solo exhibition of photographer
Jessamyn Lovell. We are happy to offer a chance to experience the
newest of her powerful family images on our walls.
Catastrophe, Crisis, and Other Family Traditions is a collection of
images she's created over the last eight plus years of her family who
still lives in rural upstate NY. She photographs her family on every
trip she takes and the body of work keeps changing and evolving as
life on the small farm changes over the years. Jessamyn's work deals
with social issues such as poverty, class, and disability while
focusing on such personal issues as family relationships and self-
identity. The photographs from this project have been exhibited
nationally, including at SF Camerawork, the Richmond Art Center, and
Photo New York. Her work has been published in Camerawork, Kitchen
Sink magazine, Shots, and Contact Sheet. The majority of this
exhibition is new work, much of which has never been exhibited
before. Catastrophe, Crisis, and Other Family Traditions is an
ongoing work in progress.
