Night spots and bars of the Beat Generation
Kerouac Alley and Vesuvios
Caffe Trieste
Grant Avenue haunts, The Place, etc.
Afternoon tour (2PM) will see:
Kerouac's Chinatown
Site of the Howl trial
Foster's cafeteria
Towne & Oller, where Ginsberg worked in market research
Ginsberg's Moloch sighting
Neal Cassady's home where Kerouac visited
Bill Morgan bio:
In the late 1960s, Bill Morgan began working on a bibliography of
Lawrence Ferlinghetti's work. Since them he worked for Allen Ginsberg
as his archivist for 20 years and has also worked with the papers of
Michael McClure, Diane di Prima, Philip Lamantia, Gregory Corso and
Anne Waldman. He has written bibliographies of Ferlinghetti,
Ginsberg and Corso an is the author of a new biography about Ginsberg
to be released in the Fall of 2006 from Viking, entitled: I Celebrate
Myself: The Somewhat Private Life of Allen Ginsberg. City Lights has
published two of his walking tour books: The Beat Generation in San
Francisco: A Literary Tour and The Beat Generation in New York: A
Walking Tour of Jack Kerouac's City.
