Have an interesting project you've crafted in your basement or
backyard? Would you jump at the chance to do a little show-and-tell
with thousands of other tech enthusiasts at a fun-filled science and
technology faire? Announcing Maker Faire '06.
Maker Faire is a family-friendly weekend of tech exploration, Maker
mischief, and fun at the San Mateo County Fairgrounds in the San
Francisco Bay Area this April 22nd/23rd. Think of it as a newfangled
science fair. Our goal is to recognize and promote the wide range of
cool and clever projects that Makers develop and to help them inspire
all kinds of people to become Makers.
If you have an interesting MAKE-like project that you are bursting to
share with your fellow Makers, here's your chance! You will be given
a table (approximately six feet in length) to lay out your project
and its components.
You will have the opportunity to explain how the project works and to
demonstrate it to an inquisitive and appreciative audience who are
eager to know more about what you make. Plus, you will have the
opportunity to roam the faire and spend some downtime with fellow
Makers. Each Maker will be assigned to a half-day time slot on
Saturday or Sunday. Makers will be organized in clusters of Maker
exhibits in Fiesta Hall.
Your proposal should include a short description of your project and
a brief profile describing yourself. This information will appear in
the Maker Faire program and on makezine.com. Also, please state any
special requirements (power, connectivity, ventilation, etc.) you may
have.
Important Dates:
* Maker Proposal Due: Midnight (PST) Feb. 27, 2006
* Speaker Notification: March 15, 2006
* Workshop and Presentations Files Due: April 10, 2006
* Faire: April 22-23, 2006
Proposals will be examined by a committee, and we will notify Makers
of acceptance by email. Proposals are due by midnight (PST), Feb 27,
2006. We will notify you of acceptance by March 15.
Submit proposals via the following URL:

NOTE: If your proposal is accepted, you will receive free
registration for yourself and your family to the Maker Faire. You
will also be invited to the Saturday night BBQ. (Unfortunately, we
are unable to underwrite travel and accommodations, so you need to be
able to make your own way to the San Francisco Bay Area).
Give our judges a challenge of a lifetime--submit your proposals now!
Good luck, and we hope to see you and your family at the Faire!
