In the first production of Campo Santo's tenth year at the
Intersection for the Arts, playwright Denis Johnson returns to
collaborate with a team of cast members and participating audiences.
After an interactive Open Process series, "Purvis" presents an epic
and impressionistic montage of socially-relevant theater.

Valerie Coble, James Faerron, Jeff Fohl, David Molina and Jen Orr.

Purvis explores the complex American soul-its contradictions,
ambiguities, inequities, and lost stories. In epic verse, Johnson
examines personal and societal myths, heroes, and legends. Re-
imagining 40 years of American history from the sensationalized
gangster era of John Dillinger and Baby Face Nelson to the corrupt
politics of the CIA, the FBI, LBJ, and J. Edgar Hoover, Purvis
grapples with who we are and what we want to be.
