EARPLAY, new chamber music, continues its 21st annual season with
Earplay 21: Reflections, featuring five West Coast premieres. This
program features living American composers who have drawn their
inspirations from other artistic forms.
Special guest artist Jennifer Lane, noted mezzo-soprano
internationally recognized for her stunning interpretations of
repertoire ranging from the early baroque to that of today's
composers, joins the ensemble for David Dzubay's song cycle Singing
in the Sun. Also featured on the concert is Christopher Trapani's
Sunflower Suite (inspired by Van Gogh's Still Life: Vase with Fifteen
Sunflowers), winner of the Wayne Peterson Prize for American Music.
Additional works by Marc Satterwhite, Curt Veeneman, and Mark Winges.
EARPLAY has performed over 400 works in its 20-year history including
104 world premieres and 45 new works commissioned by the ensemble.
This season continues EARPLAY's unwavering track record of presenting

flute and piccolo; Peter Josheff, clarinet and bass clarinet; Terrie
Baune, violin; Ellen Ruth Rose, viola; Thalia Moore, cello, and Karen
Rosenak, piano. For this concert, exceptional Bay Area artists join
them: Lisa Weiss, violin; Dan Reiter, cello; and Daniel Kennedy,
