The ACSF is a professional acting studio serving actors of all
levels. Beginners can have a serious introduction to dramatic acting
and prepare to go on to conservatories, universities or a
professional career.Professional actors can use our classes to hone
their craft while between jobs.
Method Acting techniques are a departure point at ACSF however we do
not adhere to any single 'method' as the only way train an actor.
Because we are located in San Francisco we seek to uphold
professional industry standards established in New York, Los Angels
and London and to help students discern the difference between
regional community theater acting styles and the naturalism required
for success in the professional world of film and theater acting.
HARVEY KEITEL
"I met Shelley Mitchell when we were both studying with Lee Strasberg
in New
York in the '70s. She was always fascinating to watch. Her talent was
a magnet that drew everyone's attention. In fact, as I recall, she
was one of Lee Strasberg's favorites, if not the favorite."
RITA MORENO, Oscar, Tony, Emmey, Grammy winner
"Behind every great actor there is almost always a great teacher. We
here, in the Bay Area, are fortunate to have such a teacher...so if
you are eager to develop your skills as an actor, Shelley Mitchell's
class is a must!"
Shelley Mitchell was trained by Lee Strasbert at the Actors studio
and teaches scene study and emotionally expansive exercises to help
professional and beginning actors to find their power. We help non-
actors, directors and writers to understand the language of actors.
