Conversations in Color: Monochrome
Works composed of single and closely related colors create balanced
and visually soothing compositions.

The first installment of 'Conversations in Color', 'Monochrome',
presents works of single and closely related (analogous) colors that
are manipulated through variations in lightness and saturation to
achieve balanced and visually soothing compositions..

'Conversations in Color' is a three part series about color
relationships from two perspectives: colors presented singularly and
in various combinations and the relationship of color to the
individual viewer. encouraging the viewer to explore their own
reactions to color. Each installment of the series presents color
from a distinct perspective, beginning with the 'clarity' achieved in
monochromatic and analogous color compositions, moving to the bold
statements of two, three and four complimentary color combinations,
and culminating in works manifesting unlimited color harmonies.

While the psychological effects of individual colors can be assigned
general qualities (i.e., red is excitement, green is pride, orange is
invigorating, blue is serene, yellow is happiness, violet is fantasy)
the degree to which one is attuned to color's influence is a wholly
personal experience. Through the introduction of increasingly
expansive harmonies the hope is that one develops an appreciation for
both familiar and unconventional color relationships.
