Young and dutiful Frederic has agreed to serve with pirates until his
21st birthday. But alas, being born on leap year day, February 29,
Frederic must face the prospect that he will not be free until he is
well over 80 years old-and he can hardly expect his beloved Mabel to
wait. Will Frederic be forced to duel with the Pirate King to secure
his freedom?

Pirates features several of the most well-known songs ever written by
Gilbert & Sullivan including "Poor Wand'ring One" and "A Modern Major
General." If someone you know has never seen a Gilbert & Sullivan
production, there cannot be a better one to start with than this
grand, ever-popular and uproariously funny production.

Veteran director Jane Hammett mines the libretto for all of its humor
while musical direction is provided by Robert Wood of the San
Francisco Opera.
