Munich, 1943. As Hitler wages a devastating war in Europe, a group of
young men, mostly university students, choose passive resistance as
their way to cripple the Nazis and their inhuman war machine. Sophie
Scholl joins TheWhite Rose, as the group came to be known, as an
innocent young woman who matures into a committed and fearless anti-
Nazi. On 18 February 1943, Sophie and her brother Hans are caught
distributing leaflets at the university and arrested. Over the next
few days, Sophie's interrogation by the Gestapo officer Mohr evolves
into an intense psychological duel. She lies and denies, schemes and
lays down arms only to regroup and resist with greater determination.
Unable to counter the crushing evidence, she confesses, but
desperately tries to protect her brother and other White Rose
members. Moved by Sophie's uncommon bravery, Mohr offers her a way
out - but at the price of betraying her ideals. She refuses, sealing
her fate. - Jentsch's performance of a lifetime won her several
prestigious awards.
