Belly Dance / Klezmer Night & Session

The ambling Gypsy wagon and all its mysterious melodies, taboo
undulations and frenzied dance inspirations returns to Amnesia this
Sunday for a night of far and near eastern delights. This Sunday East
meets Different East where musicians possessed by exotic rhythms coax
bewitching belly dancers into hypnotic visceral ambulations. Ancient
Jewish songs of celebration and praise are energized with new blood
and sweat from furious foot stomping on the dance floor.

For the first part of the evening dancers and musicans are banding
together from prominent local troops in "Super Ultra Bellydanceesque"
to bring to you a night of raw, improvised and inspired belly dance
and middle eastern musique. There will belly dancers on hand from
troops such as Ultra Gypsy, Arabesque, and others accompanied by a
trio of musicians led by Dan Cantrell.

Later in the evening you will be entertained and ushered onto the
dance floor by the haunting horas and wild freilachs of The Yiddiots
as presented by Aaron Novik (clarinet) and friends. Recommended by 4
out of 5 Jewish Superheroes to save your ass if it has fallen asleep
on the dance floor, the Yidiots will kick out the kosher klezmer jams
and get your feet stomping.

Both sets will be open to the greater Balkan / Klezmer / Middle
Eastern community of musicians (and belly dancers) to sit in and add
their talents into the mix. Any musician who sits in for the session
will be admitted free.
