Killer Joe, the play, is a gritty "pulp fiction" piece.

Killer Joe, the man, is a cop-for-hire contracted by the greedy Smith
family, a dim-witted clan, to do away with their mother in order to
collect her insurance money. As a retainer against his final payoff,
Killer Joe decides to bed the Smith daughter. Joe's seduction of the
innocent Dottie begins what becomes an intense downward spiral,
culminating in a thrilling conclusion.

Set in Dallas, this DARK COMEDY revels in its white-trash stereotypes
and gives you permission to do the same. It is graphic and intense,
and for mature audiences only.

The New York Times calls this smash off-Broadway mega-hit, "white-
trash Gothic with a comic-book spin, a sort of Tobacco Road according
to Wes Craven".
