WETBACK: THE UNDOCUMENTED DOCUMENTARY
Arturo Perez Torres, Heather Haynes bull 2005 bull 97 minutes
Wetback, a quietly commanding documentary, follows in the footsteps
of immigrants traveling from Nicaragua to America. On their journeys,
they encounter gangs and vigilantes, as well as border patrol. But
these immigrants navigate real-life nightmares with uncanny calm,
grace, even humor. And director Arturo Perez Torres does all of us a
favor by getting out of the way and allowing them to tell their stories.

TERMINAL BAR
Stefan Nadelman, bull 2003 bull 22 minutes
"When one person's lying in the street, everybody's lying in the
street." That's the way the film's provocateur, bartender Sheldon
Nadelman describes the state of the world. This stunning film by
Nadelman's son Stefan was described as perhaps the best short film
ever produced by the head of the Sundance Film Festival selection
committee, and by the end of the opening credits, you'll know why.
Perhaps one of the finest portraits ever made of New York City,
Terminal Bar looks at the colorful clientele of one of New York's
less celebrated watering holes through the stories and pictures 2500
portraits by his father Sheldon Nadelman.
