The Drivetime by Antero Alli and Rob Bezsny
Tue, Dec 20
7:00pm - 9:00pm
Free admission
Filmmaker in person.
This is a free screening of my 1995 cyber-fi feature made with my
buddy Rob Brezsny (the guy who writes the Free Will Astrology column
in SF Weekly) about a time-travelling government librarian from the
year 2023 who visits Seattle circa 1999 to retrieve some video
footage of police riots that triggered the gradual collapse of the
government. Though this film is a spooky look at government
conspiracy theories and street cred video activism, what really
spooked me was the eruption of the WTO riots in Seattle circa 1999,
four years after this movie was made ! This a rare screening. "The
Drivetime" has only shown twice in the SF area since 1996 (both at
the Pacific Film Archive). I am showing it free, in part, to get it
out there again and also to celebrate its availability on dvd (on
sale after the screening). Though the actors are all from Seattle,
the killer soundtrack features SF bands that no longer exist: WORLD
ENTERTAINMENT WAR, JULES BECKMAN and CONTRABAND.
