CCA Students Present New Designs in Space/Craft Show at Propeller Dec. 9

Students from the Wood/Furniture program at the California College of
the Arts present "Space/Craft," an exhibition of new product design,
at leading design retailer Propeller. The show will be Friday,
December 9, from 5-7 p.m. at the Hayes Valley store, located at 555
Hayes Street. All work will be available for purchase.

"Space/Craft" explores the possibilities of making sophisticated
design for the home within the constraints of manufacturing processes
and market considerations. The students featured in the show
approached their designs from diverse standpoints such as material
investigation, use of industrial scrap and sustainable practices, and
the need for flexible, multi-use spaces. Their work explores the
relationships that can be formed between users and objects through
physical manipulation, transformation of space, and humor.

The products featured in "Space/Craft" were developed as part of the
"Production" course in CCA's Wood/Furniture curriculum. "This show is
a chance for these talented young designers to engage with the public
and test their ideas in the retail market," says instructor Scott
Moulton. "Propeller is a great venue for us because of the emphasis
on contemporary furniture by emerging designers."

The exhibition includes designs by Rosie Hanna, Bobby Brinton,
Kimberley Hasselbrink, Yvonne Mouser, Jeremy Kaplan, Ben Golub,
Alexandra Milukhin, Celia Strobos, and Courtney Skott.
