JERRY LEVIN:
Jerry Levin was Cable News Network (CNN) Middle East Bureau Chief
Lebanon in 1984, when he was
kidnapped by extremists and became the first of the so-called
forgotten American hostages.

His wife, Dr. Lucille (Sis) Levin, an internationally known peace
educator and certified
professional mediator, attracted international attention in the mid
1980s in connection with her
successful nonviolent reconciliation focused effort to create
conditions by which Jerry was able
to escape from his captors.

Jerry is currently based in the Middle East (working at various times
in Palestine/Israel, Iraq,
and Jordan), where he is involved in projects promoting nonviolence
as a means for creating a more
stable peacemaking environment in the Holy Land and elsewhere. He is
working as a full time
volunteer with CPT (Christian Peacemaker Teams. Its West Bank base is
in Hebron.

For more information on Jerry and Sis Levin, check out the following
website which features a
collection of essays comprising a series of periodic reports,
reflections, commentaries, and
analyses on the effects of violence and nonviolence in the Occupied
Territories and Israel, and
Iraq.
