Abydos Theater presents "The False Servant" by Pierre Marivaux,
directed by Jessica Heidt. Lust, greed, and cross-dressing are on
display in this French comedy about a young girl who dresses as a man
to find out more about her husband-to-be. The production is set in
Deauville, France in the 1920's, within a jazz world of flirtation,
sex and money. Critic Jeff Smith says i'ts "an artistic refinement
rarely evidenced in San Francisco theaters.... a must for anyone who
would like experience the result of artistic success gaining
ascendancy over popular and commercial success."
