21 Grand presents a special evening with Tracy and the Plastics.
This is the band's only bay area appearance. Opening acts, 0th (Rose
- drums; Amanda Warner bass/electronics).

Tracy + the Plastics is a band made and performed by lesbian feminist
video artist Wynne Greenwood. Greenwood began Tracy + the Plastics
after being in bands and making short videos whose stories were told
through their soundtracks. Greenwood takes the form of all three band
members, live on stage and in prerecorded video projections. She
sings live as Tracy while interacting with the other band members
(Greenwood as Cola, drums, and NIkki, keyboards) on the video screen
behind her.

Greenwood's stationary camera records homemade productions, turning
domestic spaces into stages and everyday objects and actions into
performers in a band, parts of a song. The shake of the nail polish
bottle in the video becomes the tick of the high hat cymbal in the
song. These elements create an imagined world that Tracy guides you
through with her hopeful vocals. Her interaction with the projected
video uses pauses, interruptions, and slow dialogue to create spaces
for the audience to step into.

Tracy + the Plastics was invited to perform in the 2004 Whitney
Biennial, for which they were asked to create 3 new performances for
3 different spaces. The band tours often, performing at a range of
venues that has included Harvard University, the Plains Art Museum in
Fargo, ND, queer discos and made up art spaces. 2 full length
records, various other recordings, and a compilation video of live
performances have been released on several record labels including
Chainsaw Records and Troubleman Unlimited Records in the USA, and Too
Pure Records in Europe. Tracy + the Plastics is currently working
with Fawn Krieger on ROOM, an installation and performance at the
Kitchen in NYC.
