Increasing numbers of people and organizations are now recognizing
their common cause in building a world that works for all - whether
they call themselves environmentalists or social justice advocates.
Environmentalists in particular are learning some hard lessons about
the importance of addressing the pressing needs of people and
communities, the most disadvantaged of whom suffer most from
industrial pollution and societal neglect. This event will challenge
us to rethink what it means to be an environmentalist, and explore
the potential of different movements meeting at the crossroads for
positive change.
Environmental justice campaigners will speak about four key Bay Area
campaigns and programs and then facilitate small-group discussions on
related topics and themes.
