Two world-renowned poets reflect on healing in an evening of readings
and conversation.
Robert Hass, MacArthur "Genius" Fellow and Poet Laureate of the
United States from 1995-97, is a poet of great eloquence, clarity and
force, whose work is rooted in the magnificent landscape of Northern
California. His many books of poetry include Field Guide, Praise,
Human Wishes and Sun Under Wood, as well as a book of essays on
poetry, Twentieth Century Pleasures.
Jane Hirshfield's poetry speaks to the central issues of human
existence: desire and loss, impermanence and beauty, the many
dimensions of our connection to others and to the creatures and
objects with which we share our lives. She is the author of six
collections of poetry, including After (due to be published in 2006),
Given Sugar, Given Salt, The Lives of the Heath and The October Palace.
