TRANSGENERATIONS: FINANCIAL AID, MEAL PLAN AND SEX CHANGE
Free Screening of Sundance Channel Documentary
San Francisco LGBT Community Center, 1800 Market St.
On Sept 9, 6:00 p.m. join nine community organizations at
the SF LGBT Community Center, 1800 Market St., for a free
screening of "TransGenerations," the Sundance Channel's
original documentary that goes inside the daily lives of
four transgender college students at campuses across the
United. Directed by Jeremy Simmons of the award-winning
production company World of Wonder ("Party Monster," "The
Eyes of Tammy Faye"), "TransGenerations" follows its
subjects over the course of a school year, capturing their
triumphs and struggles as they juggle the challenges of
academia with their commitment to transitioning from their
birth sex.
Like college students everywhere, Gabbie, Raci, Lucas and
T.J. are in the process of defining who they are, and
taking control of their gender identity is a fundamental
part of that process. The students are from different parts
of the world as well as different social and economic
backgrounds, and each is at a different stage of
transition. As "TransGenerations" joins the students in
class and at play, with their friends and with their
families, in private and in their communities, we come to
know them as individuals, with unique experiences and
outlooks.
A trailer for the upcoming documentary "Red Without Blue,"
an artistic and groundbreaking portrayal of gender,
identity and the unswerving bond of twinship, will precede
this screen of "TransGenerations."
This screening is co-sponsors by Community United Against
Violence; Equality California; Female-to-Male
International; Gay-Straight Alliance Network; Horizons
Foundation; LYRIC; San Francisco Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, &
Transgender Community Center; San Francisco Transgender
Empowerment, Advocacy and Mentorship (SF TEAM); and
Transgender Law Center.
